The dramatic announcement included an admission by Alderden that authorities misled the media on Friday when they said they still believed it was not a hoax.
In fact, after a comment on CNN Thursday night by Falcon, the 6-year-old boy, "it became very clear to us at that point that they were lying," Alderden said. But in order to get to the truth, "it was very important that they maintain their trust with us." So investigators misled the media while they carried out their "game plan" of gathering the truth.

I shared a bunch of videos and updates up to yesterday, while I yelled at the sheriff every time he said the couple could not possibly have done that on purpose. Like the truth only came out out because of the trust they had on the sheriff?
Puhleese, Sheriff, watch the videos and please enroll in a course on how to read the obvious when it's staring right at you.
All you had to do is what we see in interrogations on tv shows and movies. You know, the separate rooms and psychological tactics thing you guys do? They were already half broken by the very next day. The kids were ready to talk.
SHEESH, Mr. Aldersen...it's ok to screw up, just not ok to pretend you meant it. :-/

There's a video I posted yesterday that shows the moment the kid confesses on TV and the dad lets out a heavy SIGH sound. The body language expert said that's very common when criminals face overwhelming evidence.
Why is this sheriff doing a similar thing so frequently, and seemingly so nervous, and emphasizing so hard that he "picked up on it"?
